The 2006 Awards took place on Sunday 21 May, at the Barry Memo Hall. Well over 200 people attended, in evening dress, to watch the presentation of 13 prizes in total, including 3 new awards for 2006.

The evening took a slightly different format from previous years, with the proceedings starting with some lively entertainment from The Unknown Theatre Company, followed by the overviews from the two Moderators, Lon David (Adults) and Geoff Lake (Youth).
Everything stopped then for a wonderful buffet, after which the awards proper began. However, this year, they were interspersed by extracts from adult member groups, with a mixture of shows some of which had been entered for the awards (e.g. Swansea's Under Milkwood) and some which hadn't (e.g. Orbit's Witches of Eastwick).
The entertainment worked extremely well, and with the audience less noisy than in previous years, the evening was a great success for all.
The hosts this year were new-to-the-Glammies Frank Vickery, who shared some wonderful anecdotes with us, and Glammies old-hand, Clare Hingott, who was back to inspire the Young Glammies once again.
The only sadness of the evening was saying goodbye to Geoff and Barbara Lake who will be moving abroad later this year, and who in future are only likely to attend the Glammies as audience members. They were presented with gifts and everyone's best wishes for all they have done for the Glammies (amongst so many other things for the GDL) both this and in previous years.
