If you haven't already done so, have a look at our Glammies main page. This'll tell you about how the process works.
A GDL Appraiser is one of a team (drawn from GDL member companies) who visit productions mounted by other GDL groups across South Wales. You may be asked to attend a youth or an adult production. Having seen the show, you're then asked to write down your comments and send them back to the relevant Moderator who pools them all and submits them to the company.
What guidance can you offer a new member of the team?
We have produced a list of suggestions that you might find useful when writing an appraisal. The list won't tell you what to write, but can help you with ideas.
Once you've read this page, if you'd like to know more, please contact Annette Littlechild, our Appraisers' Co-ordinator , tel: 07855 813141. She'll take your details and line you up to see a show with an experienced member of the team at the next convenient opportunity. You'll then be expected to submit a report (we have a list of suggestions you can use to give you an idea of the kind of approach we're looking for) for us to see if you're able to call on sufficient experience/overview, and are able to express it, to our required standard. If you are, you will then be invited to join the team and Annette can call on you to check your availability as and when shows are entered.
We are very keen to welcome new members, and if you think you might be interested, please do let us know.
What's new?
We updated the way we do things in September 2005, and for 2008-09, we're revising our marking system to bring it in line with the GODA marking system used by GODA adjudicators at festivals all over the country. This new system is already in place.
