For the first time in many years, the GDL's one-act festival was not held at the Berwyn Centre, Nantymoel. A decline in audiences, and transport difficulties led the committee to experiment with moving the festival elsewhere, so in 2005 it was held at the Players' Theatre in the YMCA in Cardiff.
There were only enough entries to run for 2 nights this year, but there were full houses on both nights, which enhanced the performers' experiences greatly. The entered productions were supported by musical performances (different on the two nights) by The Unknown Theatre Company from Cardiff, who were he UK's representatives at the forthcoming World Festival of Amateur Theatre in Monaco in July.
Overall, it was considered that the move away from the Berwyn Centre, while sad, was necessary, and the committee is currently considering the options for the location of the festival next year.
