This is the website for the Glamorgan Drama League: an umbrella organisation for local theatre groups in South Wales and one of the UK's most active amateur drama associations.

Contractions, in July 2016, in Cardiff, won the British Final Festival of One-Act Plays.

A most extraordinary weekend.

GDL delegates' meetings are held usually every two months or so. All member groups are encouraged to support these meetings. Details of meetings are usually circulated by email.

Please let us know if you'd like to be included on the email circulation list, if you're not already on it.

Details are usually posted on the Glamorgan Drama League Facebook page as well.

Representatives of all member groups, and all members, are most welcome to attend.

Interested in becoming a Glammies appraiser?

Appraisers need to have experience in amateur theatre, and if they commit to seeing a show and writing a report on it, we expect them to honour that commitment: that's all we ask of anyone wanting to be part of the team.

The League covers the geographical area formerly defined by the old county of Glamorgan (which means Swansea and the Gower in the west, Cardiff to the east, and as far north as Merthyr).

We currently have 11 fully-paid up adult member groups, as well as 5 very active youth groups, and several individual members, but are always keen to welcome more. Take a look at our list of current members.

We have two major areas of on-going activity:

  • The Glammies - an annual evening of review and celebration of the best of the year's work

  • One-Act Festival - our local round of the national One-Act play competition

The details for the 2017 Festival are available via the 2017 One-act Festival page.

Details on what the Glammies is all about are on our Glammies page.

All entries are now part of the 2016-17 season. Please use an entry form: you can get these via our Glammies page or go straight to this link for the forms.

The last date for seeing shows for the 2017 season will be announced soon, but is likely to be late February.

Please note we need four weeks' notice for a Glammies entry: there are no exceptions to this rule.

We would be delighted to hear from you - perhaps you'd like to perform at one of our festivals, or you've an idea for a training session - do use our Contact page for the details on how to reach us. Full joining details, including an application form, can be found on our Join Us page .
